Bookings:

Why our trips offer unique value compared to other operators.

One of the main reasons is quite simple:

The house we use as our base is our own home. Because of that, we don’t have the kind of high rental or lodge costs that many other camps or operators have. That alone makes a big difference and allows us to keep our prices lower. We are also a small family-run operation. There isn’t a large team behind it, no big company structure, and no layers of management. Keeping things small helps us keep our costs reasonable and allows us to focus on what really matters to us, time on the fjord and meaningful encounters with the whales. Of course this is still a business and it needs to work financially. But our goal has never been to build a highly optimized win-tourism operation. What matters more to us is creating an experience where there is enough time and space to truly take in the surroundings, the silence of the fjord, and the moments that happen out there. The same philosophy applies to the food we serve. We don’t offer luxury menus or elaborate fine dining. Instead, we focus on good, high-quality food made with regional products whenever possible. Buying locally is important to us because it helps us connect with the community and support the people who live and work here. Our guests still receive excellent, fresh and high-quality meals, that is a priority. The difference is that the food reflects the region and the way of life in the north. Simple, honest dishes with a strong connection to Arctic life. In the end, the idea behind everything we do is quite straightforward. Small groups, respect for wildlife, and a way of operating that fits naturally into the place we are in, rather than trying to turn it into something it isn’t. 🐋

Note for solo travelers

Solo travelers may share a room, but we prioritize comfort and gender arrangements. Whenever possible, we try to arrange rooms by gender to make everyone feel comfortable. If that is not always possible due to the group composition, we will always communicate openly and find a solution that works well for everyone. Our goal is to create a relaxed and respectful atmosphere, where guests feel comfortable and can fully enjoy their time and the experience in nature.
